I am always suspicious when I see statements from very wealthy people about abolishing all intellectual property laws. Usually they want to abolish the laws to their advantage. They have some new technology that is impeded by existing laws. Curiously they never say the second half of the proposal. If you are going to abolish all intellectual property laws then you also need to redistribute all the wealth gained by those who utilized the protections to gain their immense wealth. Further you need to reorganize companies in such a way that either they have no shareholders or the shares are equitable distributed among the people. Wiping out the protections that individuals and corporations rely upon in order to accumulate wealth so another group of wealthy people can leverage all the work of the others is an affront to thinking people.
